In 1964, our founder, Jorge Saavedra came to the United States from his native Colombia. As an avid cyclist he recognized the need for an American made, high quality cycling cap. More importantly he wanted to make a cap that could be customized. He made caps for shops, teams and races in small numbers and delivered most of them personally. However, things really took off when Jorge began making caps for Campagnolo.
In 1980 we began to supplement our successful accessories line with road shorts and jerseys. For over two decades we have produced a complete line of Pace technical clothing and accessories as well as custom team and private label programs. As we entered the next millenium we felt it was a time for a change, which is how the Lifestyle Collection came to be. Wanting to flaunt our passion for the sport while off the bike prompted us to carve our own niche in the market. Our Lifestyle Collection features Hawaiian style button down shirts picturing cycling related themes.
We are proud that Pace Sportswear products are Rider Owned and Tested. Jorge continues to be 100% dedicated to cycling. He still logs, on average, 250 miles per week in the warm months and 100 miles in the short winter months. Maria Marsh, Jorge's daughter and our President, is also very involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's "Team in Training" program and has served as "Mentor". Her completion of the 111 miles El Tour de Tucson and 100 miles America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride shows her complete dedication to the sport.
